How important are dreams? How often do you remember something from them? Did you ever have a dream you wish you hadn't woken up from?

What if you've been cursed not to leave the dream's world (which isn't necessarily the world of your dreams) until you will have fulfilled your given mission in that world?

Of course, you'd have to do it. It's Valnyssa's order.

Noticeable or not to the common human's spiritual blind eye, dreams and reality interact with each other in some sort of metaphysical ecosystem. They feed each other. They rely on each other. If the dreams' world is threatened by demonic creatures (as it happens from time to time), so will the human's world. Both dreams and reality must reach a state of fusion and harmony in order to become more powerful and survive any potential destructive attacks.

Just like dreams are guiding humans' existence through the power of blessing and inspiration, it is your turn to become one with the world of dreams, Ethereal, and stop it from vanishing into Nowhere.

Aand... no. Don't expect, don't even think that you're going to knock out demons in some way related to Mortal Kombat fights. Dreams are too refined and rational worlds to be trated with brutality. Instead, you'll have to use your logic and patience...

Actually, you know what? I won't say anything. Just try it yourself. The download button is right on this page below.

Propose a new puzzle

Anyone can propose a new sliding puzzle to be added in this game. The puzzle will replace one of the 13 original puzzles (which are listed here). This is because the original puzzles are more like placeholder data to prove the mechanics of the game. That means some of the puzzles could be a bit too hard to solve.

Proposing a puzzle

Open a new issue and write the puzzle name, the puzzle type (3x3, 4x4, 5x5, 6x6) and attach an picture of the puzzle. You can also mention the name of the puzzle you want to replace. The list of available puzzles is displayed below. I'll take care of adding the puzzle into the game. If your proposed puzzle appears in the game, your username will be mentioned in the credits section both in the game and the GitHub page. If your puzzle is inspired from another artist's work, you are encouraged to specify that source too.

Puzzle name requirements

  • No more than 14 characters
  • Must contain only letters from the English alphabet (a-zA-z)

Puzzle image requirements

  • Size: 96x96px (for 3x3,4x4,6x6 puzzles), 80x80px (for 5x5 puzzles)
  • 4 colors, preferably White, White Gray, Dark Gray, Black. Any 4-color combination is accepted if it is clear which color is darker than the other so that it can be assigned to the correct Gameboy palette shade.
  • The puzzle's tiles must be distinct and easily distinguishable (note that the tile's edges are covered in-game with a 1px black border, therefore the middle of the tile is the one that must give it an identity)
  • Keep it cute, nice and safe for work!

Choosing a puzzle to replace

This is the list of the puzzles available for replacement proposal. It would be appreciated if you choose to replace a puzzle with a higher replacement priority.

Maybe you'll want to also check the Github repository of this game.

You may also want to take a look at my HomebrewOwl.GB collection.

If you're stuck or you prefer to watch a gameplay rather than actually playing the game, check the video below (Warning: Spoilers ahead!).

Note:  This is the full gameplay for version 1.1. It shows the waltkthrough and the solutions for some of the puzzles.  There are some visible changes between the video and the current game itself, but the idea is absolutely the same. There is a sound lag in  some places of the video, which was finally solved in version 1.3.
